New Camera...
« on: June 27, 2010, 07:21:00 PM »
Hey Guys, wanted to share my new camera with you. My lovely wife and I recently celebrated our 30th and she wanted to get me a new camera for my aniversary present. I studied for a while and it was down to the new Panasonic ZS7 or the Ricoh CX3. I wasn't really interested in the GPS feature on the Panasonic and have been using Ricoh's for 7 or 8 years anyway so the CX3 won out.

I'm certainly not a camera guru so suffice it to say this camera will do much more than I'll ever need it for. It is a nice compact camera with a 10.7X optical zoom and 4X digital on top of that plus image stabilization.

Here are a few pics I took with it yesterday.

This guy was probably around a hundred yards away and walking a good clip, shot on the 10.7X out of the turck window.

These next three are taken at around a 100 yards, on the 25mm, (lowest) setting then at 10.7X then at full 4X digital zoom. Now the image on the digital zoom was bouncing like crazy when I snapped it so I'm amazed how well the stabilization works.

Look like it pulls them right in.

I too am looking for a new camera and was set on the panasonic ZS5. now you put in another to look at.

I am glad I am not in a rush to get one.

Congratulations on the anniversary, I just did my 20th.

I've got to make one correction, went back over where I took pics of that buck and it's more like 70 yards than 100.

I've seen a ton of great pics from those Panasonics over the years so nothing wrong with them. I've just kinda been partial to Ricoh's for a while. Look at Popflash.com, talk to Tony or Alex, good guys. They even have a loaner program if you wanted to test drive one. Like I said, going on 8 years with their stuff and no complaints yet.

Thanks,
Doug

Thanks for posting the pictures.  I prefer to see what an actual user can do versus the folks who write many of the reviews.
