VHS to DVD?
« on: July 19, 2010, 02:24:00 AM »
Hey Guys,

I have quite a few old VHS tapes I would like to burn on DVD. Most of them are older programs on building trad. archery equipment. I have a few trad. archery hunting programs and the like as well.

I have one older (but in decent shape) VHS player and a less than six month old computer with DVD burner. I have the new Windows software and all the jazz that comes with it. What kind of cable do I need to transfer from the VHS player to the computer? I have a 15 pin input and USB input on the computer. To be honest I'm not sure if the VHS has a coaxial or "plug and play" type connection.

Will this even work? Am I gonna have to baby my old VHS player just to watch my favorites? What happens if it craps out? Do they even still make VHS players, if I need a new one?

Thanks for the help.

OkKeith

I know this is fairly old thread but I feel like I can help OkKeith with his situation.
I use a VCR hooked to a DVD recorder to transfer my friends VHS tapes to DVDs.  All you need is 2 RCA cables linking the 2 components.  If you need more specific advise(part #'s or anything) feel free to shoot me an e-mail.
If nothing else I would be happy to copy them for you if you wanted to mail them to me.  All that would cost is price of the dvd's(cheap) and postage(?).
Hopefully you have already gotten this taken care of, if not shoot me a message.  More than happy to help.   TRW
