Trad VHS to DVD
« on: January 11, 2011, 12:49:00 PM »
I've got several Elk hunting videos by Mike Lipinski and videos about trad bow tuning that are on VHS.  We don't even own a VHS, VCR anymore.  What is the best way to get VHS transfered to DVD.  Is there any copyright stuff to worry about?

They do make combination vhs/vcr machines that allow you to make a dvd from the tape. I was going to have it done comercially and the store wanted $29.95 and if it is a commercial tape they won't do it. My friend has a converting machine and I have him do the tapes for me.

Can commercial tapes be done on the home vhs/dvd machines or do the old VHS tapes have some kind of anti-copy code built into them?

Rob,

Are you using this on your Linux machines?  Anything special to make that happen with Linux?
