Ancient Spirits Bows

My wife just put on lay a way her first bow. She has been shooting an old 35# recurve and has really fallen in love with the sport. She fell in love with,as well did I with an Ancient Spirits long bow. It is a 62" 45# draw at 28". She draws a full 28. Does anyone have any experience with ancient spirit bows and do you have any advise as to what type carbons she should shoot? Normaly she shoots gold tips.

I owned an Ancient Spirits Sequoia last year. I thought it was an excellent bow, but had to sell it due to some unexpected bills when my wife got sick.
I think it was 46# @ 28. I shot Gold tip 35/55 arrows with 100 grain inserts and 250 grain field points. They shot great at my 28.5 inch draw length. I shot a 3-under release. That may or may not make a difference.

I had a Sequoia 3 piece that was @49 @ 28" and shot AD Trad Heavies cut to 29" with 200 grains up front like bullets.
I shoot the same arrows out of a 56" #46 @ 28" AS Kadiak with the same no wiggle arrow flight...

I have heard good things about these bows. I hear your wife shoots pretty good. I hear that she can hold a tighter group than her husband.
At least this is what is what all the woodland creatures are saying.

I have two of them and find them to be excellent bows. Your wife should be very pleased.

JD is one of the good guys in Traditional Archery.
I've been shooting one of JD's Thunderhawks exclusively for the last several years and have been nothing but pleased. He's a very talented bowyer and his products are one of the best values on the custom bow market IMO.
You'll not find a more honest bowyer out there, his #1 goal is to please the customer. I grew up with the Emerson boys and they are a great group of guys from a great family.

While I do not own one...YET, I think they are some of the nicest shooting best looking bows out here. That is one brand of bow that just speaks to me hanging up there on the rack.
I'm guessing you got it at the bow shop in the big red buildng? (not sure if I am allowed to mention names)

I have a 64" one piece thunderhawk. I would like to have another one just like it because I am kind of hard on bows and I dont EVER want to be without this bow. mine has what I would call a medium wrist grip that I just love. Does he put that same type of grip on all of the thunderhawks?
Ryan are you shooting a take-down or a one piece?
I would like to know if there is much difference in the way they shoot.
thanks,

I shoot the takedown. I wouldn't think there would be much difference between the 2 in the way they shoot.....but since "shootability" is so individual you should try both. JD will put whatever grip you want on the bow...if you are particular either send it up to him to copy or try to measure it. I'd opt for sending it up (no time like the off season!). You have to wait in line tho...I've got a longbow for a buddy in Montana and another set of limbs for my recurve on order.

I shoot a 62", 45# Mt. Ash made by Tracy before teh split. Great bow. I shoot CE 150 with 125 grain tips. 30" arrow and I draw about 29". Arrow flight is excellent when shooting cock feather in.

We are fortunate to be able to get a AS bow from JD or a bow from Tree (Tracy) since they split ways. Both great guys and both make great bows!!
