Go with a DAS  if you don't like the grip change it,  don't like the rest-Change it,  decide the limbs arn't long/short or heavy/light enough change them .   best of all worlds!!!!

you may have found the silver bullet with the habu.  of course, for a one piece short bow i'd go with the centaur as well.

Well don't rule out Great Planes. I have shot a couple of target bows as well as trad bows (Bear, Ben Pearson, Shakespeare etc) but when I got my Palo Duro 1 piece recurve and shot it it was like pulling "Excalibur out of the rock". Great bow, flawless craftmanship, fast, smooth, nice wood selection and a hard hitter.
The picture shows my set-up.

I don't own the best of anything, I am a budget hunter.  But, from what I see and hear, the Adcock ACS is one of the best longbows out there, the Morrisons are probably the finest crafted bows I have ever laid my eyes on (and great shooters, too), and the DAS has nothing less than a cult following due to its shootability and amazing efficiency.

So far we've recommended about 50-60 percent of the custom bows being made.  Only reason the other 40% haven't been recommended is that the owners of those bows haven't read your post yet.  In short, they're all pretty good, and the best for one person isn't necessarily so for the next.  Just have to find something that works for you.  Good place to do that is at traditional rondezvous.  Have fun.

If you get a chance check out a Timberhawk. I love mine.

Some folks shoot everything well.  Some folks shoot nothing well.  Most of us are in between.

I think that there is a STYLE of bow that seems to fit each one of us.  For example, 1-piece recurve, TD recurve, 3-piece longbow, reflex LB, Hill-style, short recurve, heavy riser bows, narrow riser bows, hybrid heavy r/d longbows,  Shrew-style forward handle longbows and so forth.

A person should experiment with different basic bow designs and find what style they like, THEN start to pick out a bowyer who makes that style.

I agree with V-Archer.

I really like the Great Plains B-Model one piece.

The forward handle makes for a very comfortable, natural pointing bow. Very quick, smooth, and forgiving bow.....Mike

There are so many great shooting bows available today that I truly believe we live in the "Golden Age" of traditional archery.  I haven't shot them all, but it hasn't been for lack of effort!

That being said my priorities for a great shooting bow are:
1.  Quiet shooting.
2.  Smooth draw to anchor where the draw weight feels about 10lbs lighter than it's marked
3.  Forgiving during the shot to a less than perfect release.
4.  Good speed for efficiency and better downrange accuracy.

Best longbow:      Northern Mist Baraga
Best recurve:      Ancient Spirits Thunderhawk
