I would be shocked if this ever came to a floor vote. That would eliminate more than half of currently available hunting land in the state. And at a time when the MDWFP, wildlife biologists, and insurance industry are practically begging us to kill more deer.
The pro-hunting lobby in MS is incredibly strong. Various anti-hunting proposals have cropped up over the years and have almost never gotten out of committee. I'd be willing to guess that a healthy majority of the state's legislators are hunters.... or their brothers and uncles are.
I'll check into it, though, and see what I can find out. Thanks for the heads-up.
