Horne bows
« on: January 10, 2008, 07:57:00 PM »
hey everyone, i have been lookin alot at the Horne bows lately. im likin how slim the riser is, and the looks of the longbow limbs along with the slim riser really looks like a joy to shoot!
how many of you have a horne bow, and what do you think! i really like the combo hunter.

i just sold my bob lee, and am without a bow for a while.  :(   so i have quite a bit of time to think about what i like, and mabey start saving some $!

i liked the bob lee td hunter. but the riser was just a little to big. i seem to have small hands!!
so if i get somthing else, a slim riser is high on my priority list.
some pics of your hornes would be cool!

Mark builds some awesome bows!! I already have a Traditionalist and my new Brushbow will be here tomorrow. I can't wait to get to shoot it. I still haven't found a Horne that I didn't like. Great bows and great people to deal with.

First let me say Mark and Sandy Horne are great folks to deal with. You can talk to them and Mark can and will answer any questions you may have.I always wanted to shoot a Traditionalist and picked an instock bow off the web site. This bow shoots! Great riser/grip positive hand placement = accuracy.Has a little more reflex deflex than most D style longbows but not as much as the Brushbow.Draws smooth, very forgiving, no hand shock, light in hand, and spits out an arrow. The Combo Hunter with longbow limbs is the same bow in three pieces.  You can't go wrong with that bow because you can even get recurve limbs if you want or heavier/lighter longbow  limbs.I'm very happy with mine and see either another Traditionalist or a Combo Hunter on my horizon.

I've had the 60" Brushbow 47# @ 28" draw for a few months now. I didn't hold anything back when I ordered the bow. Even have the take down bolt in the riser. I have nothing but good things to say about the bow. Not once have I felt a tremble or sign of vibration in the bow. It is quiet and smooth, and a beautiful piece of craftsmanship.

I think you will be happy with a Horne bow.

I have three Horne bows and have owned three others. They are great bows. I like the Combo Hunter too and have two of them with different limb weights. I have a Traaditionalist with yew over bamboo with carbon that is beautiful bow. Mark and Sandy are grdat people. Marks bows are smooth, fatst and pretty. You will not make a bad choice with one of their bows.

Big thumbs up!!
You'll be hard pressed to find better folk.I was fortunate enough to meet Mark@Sandy in 2004,i was passing through on my way hog hunting.Mark was packing for the P.B.S. banquit, but spent over three hours talking and letting me shoot his bows. Then he pulled out a prototype, combo hunter, bamboo double carbon limbs, and i bought myself a new bow!!!
You can't go wrong,Mark and Sandy will treat you like family.

Go with the "Tradional" in which length you like best. I like the 64". It has the best grip, fast, smooth, and deadly accurate. No one trades there "Tradional". Ken

I bought many Longbows in my quest for the one that suited me the best.

I had the Combo Hunter for a while but it did not rattle my bones or suit my style of shooting.  The craftsmanship was ok but for me the Hornes is not a goer, but as they say 'each to their own'.

The funny thing is that I have settled on the Bob Lee as the best bow for me - i like it so much and am driving tacks with it.  The fact that you just sold yours proves that one cannot dictate whether or not a bow will be good for one person or another.  Each has to shoot the bow and decide for themselves.

Contrary to all the good things I have read about Hornes, I had problems with the service, and many of my emails were ignored.  I'll probably get crucified for saying that - akin to speaking blasphemy against the Pope - but that was the experience I had.

Cheers sutto

My go-to bow is a Combo Longbow. Wouldn't trade it for the world! It's back with Mark at the moment getting a Brushbow riser made, to replace the standard longbow riser. Fastest bow I've ever shot & just drives tacks. Beautiful craftsmanship & excellent customer support (given the 8-hour time difference!)
