Thanks everyone. OK, quick story. Opening morning I found myself hunting with a bunch of tradgangers, one in person, and several in spirit. I was shooting an original (Paul made) Silvertip I bought from Maxwell here on the site. My self arrow was a gift from Skinny Little Runt, my knives came from Jeremy, The Quiver on the bow I bought here in the classifieds, and last but certainly not least was the two stone broadheads I carried from Knife River (Woody). One was all hafted up and the other, one I broke killing my deer last year, was in my pack for luck.

I really had no intentions of actually shooting a deer yesterday, rather I was out simply to renew my spirit as it were. Anyway, around 9, this doe and 3 others came down the trail that would put them at 15 yards. Like I said, I had no intentions of shooting one, but they all turned down my shooting lane and decided to munch on the raspberries below my stand at 6 paces. I remember looking up at my maker and saying "OK, I can take a hint". I waited for one of them to clear, drew, and sent Woody's death stone on it's way.

Now, I'll be the first to admit I made a lousy shot. No excuses, I simply shanked it in my excitement. The shot hit farther back then I wanted, but angled forward and through the liver and exited between the 3rd and 4th from last ribs. What amazed me, and still does, is how that stone head went through her like a hot knife through butter.

Anyway, knowing it was a marginal shot, I let her go for 4 hours. When BobW and myself took up the trail, we jumped her 50 yards from the stand. We quickly decided even though she looked real sick, to back out and leave her for the morning rather than push her. This morning late we found her about 150 yards from the stand.

I really wanted to thank Woody, and everyone else that I've met here who have helped me along the way. Hopefully somehow I can repay the favors and help in some way down the road.
