Attn NC bowhunters - Sunday hunting
« on: August 21, 2006, 12:51:00 PM »
Excuse me if this has already been mentioned, but the NC Wildlife Commission is considering allowing sunday hunting.  I'm new to NC and maybe I'm spoiled, but I like hunting on sunday.  Most other states allow it and it provides more hunting opportunities to bowhunt.  Please write to "Sunday Hunting Comments, NC Wildlife Commission, 1722 Mail Service Center, Raleigh NC 27699-1722.

I was involved with getting sunday hunting legalalized in Ohio several years ago.  It took some effort but was well worth it.  Please do it TODAY, because the deadline from sportsmen input is August 31.  Spread the word, please.

Thanks.

First, let me say that I wouldn't object if you bowhunted, after 1:00 PM on Sunday ; states have odd times for turkey and doves.
Every coin has two sides and I'm not ashamed to voice my opinion against this, even if it means going against the above folks. Let me tell you why and maybe you'll change your minds. I lived in the country for ten years, just across the street from a church; and I know what went on up and down that road for six days of the week. I moved from there when we had our first child. It was not safe for her to have played in the yard during deer season because of all the road-riders, doggers, and tresspassers.
Oh, thanks for the link.
I believe we need to support our churches, worship God, pray for our country, especially with all that is going on these days.
To me, Sunday is the Lord's day and not a day to encourage men, women, and children to be out chasing deer, running dogs, shooting, running the roads, etc., like most of the clubs in this area(Halifax Co.) do; while folks are trying to worship God.
Imagine the folks in country churches trying to have Sunday services to worship and all that going on.
Some of the folks I've dealt with that come in here from all over the state, and further; would not hesitate to shoot a deer running through the church grounds. I've seen a lot, trust me.
Why shouldn't families be in church or respect those that are worshiping, on Sunday?
Thank you for considering another view.
And there was nothing so nice as a drizzly, Sunday, without the noise of mudgrip tires, round and round, trying to cut off the dogs; packs of hounds, and gunfire...
Happy trails....   ('till we meet again, Dale Evans Rogers)
