What is this wood??
« on: January 12, 2008, 10:38:00 PM »
In the photo what is the wood on the far left bow?  It is in the 2008 Black Widow catalog.  It has an almost red color to it.

Thanks,

Josh

Tulip wood...is it always that reddish color or does it vary quite a bit?

I've had two bows with tulip. My first custom bow had tulip limb veneers, it was a takedown Great Plains longbow. I later sent the riser (cocobolo) back and had recurve limbs built for it as well. I regret selling that one. Later I had a Widow in tulip that had more of a creamy color. Either way it is one of the most beautiful woods and I'm glad others are noticeing.
