Crossbows in SC
« on: August 02, 2008, 02:33:00 AM »
As of June 11 2008, the South Carolina state wild game code has been changed. The definition of "archery equipment" has been changed to include crossbows. A sad day for all of us here in South Carolina.

well- that is horrible; but its the big tent theory in action.

I could live with a traditional archery only tag for all my tags. If they had them.

You know with the present season length- and some hope of hanging onto a bow season.....

Very sorry to hear that Rob. They are trying the same thing here in Michigan.  :(

Happened here in Louisiana this year as well, after being fought for years. The hunters never asked for it, it was only the manufactures who lobbied for the law change as you might guess.

For those states where it is still illegal don't say it won't happen here, these people have an agenda and the money to back it.

It happened here in Va several years ago.  From what has been told there were actually very few hunters at the hearings, it was all manufactures just like Wile stated for his state.  If it's any help I must admit it has had very little impact over all on our season.  Bass Pro could not keep them in stock the first year or so but you don;t seem to find them in the woods that often.

I have to remind myself that everyone hunts for different reasons.  Just because I enjoy the challenge more than the kill does not mean someone who hunts for the kill is wrong.  Heck, if you really think about it the compounds with 80% let off, carbon arrows, mech broadheads, sights, stablizers, drop away rest, and releases have take most of the challenge out of it. But I never had bad feelings about those in the woods?  I have to apply the same logic to XBows.
