Dave: I agree the new info and regulation czar isn't one of us, but sometimes the office has an effect on the person, i.e., the magnitude of the responsibility sometimes causes the person to do the right thing rather than act in his/her own self interest. Bears watching, of course, to help him along the path.
I think one of the things the Dems learned in the second Bush election is to not piss off the gun owners/hunters. I believe they voted overwhelmingly in favor of Bush, 80% or more if memory serves, and that was enough to win a few crucial states.
The zealots will renew their efforts to pass anti-gun and anti-hunting legislation, given that they perceive an administration that they think looks favorably on their agenda. I think they're wrong, too. Though there might be some minor inroads on guns on the national level, hunting is safe there IMO. Don't know if that can be said for the states though, which is where the antis have had the most success.
