Boycott Colorado ?
« on: April 02, 2013, 05:30:00 PM »
I know most of you have heard about the "boycott Colorado" during the hunting seasons this year ...are any of you in support of this measure ? I'm a native ; born and raised here (59 years) and I have mixed emotions on the matter...if you haven't heard about the boycott there is a bunch of info on the internet about it....just wondering

I hadn't heard about this.  I don't think it will do a darned thing, though.  The Division of Wildlife gets its money from hunting licenses (at least it did before it's merging back into the Parks department).  The Division will care but I can't imagine the Legislature giving any care to whether the they loses money from fewer license sales.  It's no money out of their pocket.  It will just give them an excuse to take more control from the Division.  The money lost from outfitters, guides and rural motels/eateries won't have much affect on the politicians since the state is run by the I-25 corridor which will be entirely unaffected by the loss of non-resident hunters.

OH, the legislature will care if enough NR folks do it.  Many millions of dollars are brought into CO's economy from us NR hunters.

From time to time states will do something that irks NR hunters and the states will sometimes back off.

Of course the folks that produced these gun laws wouldn't know and elk from their Poodle.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!!!
The DOW is not the cause of our ANTI-GUN  crap.  The liberal democrats are... So if you want to make an impact boycott the businesses owned by those  politicians. Then vote them OUT.  Don't hurt the gun shops, hunting supply store, restaurants, gas stations, outfitters and others that are already being hurt by the LIBS...
The DOW still needs to manage the wildlife and they get ALL their $$$$ from hunters.

Maybe it's just the pessimist in me but I just don't think they'll care.  The bills have passed and the damage is done.  Undoing it would require moving Everest, in my opinion.  However, I'd love to see it change.

In the 14 years I've been here this place has gone backwards, again in my opinion.  I do more bird hunting than big game hunting (the seasons are much longer) and I just don't hunt much in the state of Colorado.

I own two businesses in CO...evidently you can't "vote" out the "people" who are behind what is happening here and will continue to happen...money does talk and several million in revenue "might" get someones' attention....common sense is long gone...I know quite a few in state ; and out of state hunters that will not support a state that passes legislation like Colorado...Joe ; I wish we could vote them out ...but we both know that is not going to happen...Colorado has changed ; not for the better....

If your going to boycott you've got to boycott everything from the state....hunting,fishing, skiing, peaches, you name it, if comes from CO, CONN,NY whereever any and all companies, products, etc.....contact companies etc that you used to spend money with and tell them why you are not spending money with them and tell them where your money is now going to go....it might be a long shot but money does talk....unfortunately most of us don't have the deep pockets of a soros, gates, rockerfeller and the old stock guy what's his name...seems like most of us are gonna get hurt one way or the other so you migh at well put up a fight.....

I WAS planning on making a trip out there. Not now, at least not till the citizenry stops acting stupid.

Pot's legal but not my 16rd mag for my CCW pistol that I use to protect myself from idiot liberal potheads?

Yes, the DOW still needs the cash to do it's job. However, it's more important to hit the entire state through the loss of revenue than to support the DOW.

It aint the citizenry thats acting stupid, it's the about face performed by even the moderate liberals and their deitifying the outside liberal influences like an astronaut, VP who happened to be out skiing the same time as the bill was getting voted on, and families from Connecticut.  They got to be heard more than most residents in the chamber...

The citizens voted for these people. Yes, I understand the metro-plex areas can out vote the rural areas. That does not not change the fact that the best method to change public opinion is to hit them in the pocket book. It's why Magpul left. Want to change the way those in Colorado Springs & Denver think? Let them feel the pain. It will suck, it will hurt, I feel badly for the families of the hunting industry. They need to let the state know how bad it's hurting them and if they still won't listen then the good citizens need to vote with their feet and leave the communist state of New York...er.. Colorado.

I'm a Colorado Native, born and raised here, moved back after my time in the military.  I'm waiting until the 2014 elections and I'll work to promote specific candidates before then.  If after the election the progressives are still running the show I'm moving.  This is not the same place I grew up.

My son lives down in the Denver area, so I have to go occasionally. The only place that I happily shop at while there is Rocky Mt. Specialty Gear; I do my best to keep my purchases north of the border. I know that the economy of the front range won't fall apart because I'm not buying gas down there, but it makes me feel better.
It is unfortunate that the good folks in Colorado are legislated by a bunch of idiots on the front range; we don't call it the People's Republic of Boulder for nothing. I feel sorry for you guys who live in what used to be a wonderful state.

Politicians don't give a rat's backside about your opinions, only your $$  Hit them where it'll do the most damage.  It's too bad decent people are going to suffer, but there's too much at stake.  Boycott, and let them know why you're doing so.

I see the recall effort to toss the senate president gathered more than twice as many votes as were needed. More even than all those who voted for this guy when he was first elected.  I wonder what Bloomberg's going to do?

I was talking to the DOW today about my odds of pulling the tag I want in 2014.  He was surprised when I told him the 2013 draw statistics were already posted.  He didn't think they would have processed them yet since they had 18,000 more hunt applications this year than last.

I'm guessing the boycott of Colorado had no effect.  LOL
