If you agree that the Pennsylvania Game Commission should remove antler restrictions for senior citizens starting in the 2015 season then;
Before the April Game Commission meeting send them an email at; [email protected]. Ask that you email be presented to the board and kindly ask them to remove these restrictions starting in the 2015 deer season in Pennsylvania.

I'm not sure why our state would wave the antler restrictions for seniors however I can see why they would want to wave antler restrictions for juniors.

One of the main reasons is Seniors have failing eyesite and it is difficult to count points. We are required to have 3 up on one side. I know many may not agree with this but when those that don't get into their 60's and 70's they may change their mind. Also at that age you are on the downhill side of your hunting days.

I would guess that the seniors have probably taken more deer than most during their life span so not sure why they would wave antler restrictions on this one...in other words there has been plenty of opportunity over their hunting life span. The failing eye sight debate kind of bothers me too because if you can't see to count points I would be worried that the person could potentially end up shooting another hunter by mistaking them for a deer.

I'M SURE MANY SENIORS HAVE TAKEN THEIR SHARE OF DEER OVER THE YEARS BUT ANTLER RESTRICTIONS HAVE ONLY BEEN IN EFFECT FOR ABOUT 12 YEARS.SO YOU THINK SINCE THEY HAVE TAKEN MANY DEER THEY DON'T DESERVE TO HAVE THE CHANCE ONCE THEY ARE OLDER. COME ON NOW, FAILING EYESIGHT AND SHOOTING ANOTHER PERSON FOR A DEER.COUNTING POINTS ON A MOVING DEER AND SHOOTING ANOTHER PERSON ARE ENTIRELY DIFFERENT.

I don't know. .  I am 60 now and my eyesight isn't what it was, but I sure don't want or need any allowances.  I just need to get them closer so I am sure, or use binoculars.

I have passed numerous deer in my time because it was too dark to tell for sure just what it was in the last few minutes.

Allowances are like slippery slopes.  At what point does it end.

Yeah but the failing eye sight is still a concern especially while hunting. I don't see a need to wave the antler restrictions for anyone. As ChuckC mentioned....At what point does it end?

If you can't see well enough to count points, you probably would be better off getting optics or not taking the shot.  From all I have heard the restrictions have really improved the quality of the deer herd since I moved from PA.

I agree with youth before seniors.  Most guys I know my age (61) have shot boatloads of basket racks. I'd prefer to support building an older deer herd. Of course I'm not in PA so I won't be contacting the commission even though I know some of the folks there.

The age of the bucks are increasing here in PA due to antler restrictions. I'm by no means a 'big buck guy' but its nice to see larger bucks roaming the woods here in PA versus a continue stream of fork horns and spikes. IMO They should keep antler restrictions in place for everyone.
