62" Dalaa....17" or 21" Riser?
« on: January 19, 2008, 01:57:00 PM »
If you were going to buy a 62" Dalaa for serious whitetail hunting and casual 3-D would you go with the 17" or the 21" riser? What are the benefits and downsides to one vs. the other?

Thanks,  Steve

I own the shorter one and has done well for me. I don't know the benifits of one over the other, but as close as you are to 3R you should just go up and shoot both and go with the one that shoots the best for ya.  You can't go wrong with that.

Steve,
I draw 29 3/4 inches and shoot the 60 inch Dalaa just fine.I did OK last year shooting 3-D.I tied for third at one shoot that had over 600 folks registered. Not that they all shot in my class but I still improved my scores a lot since I started shooting the Dalaa.

A little bit after the 3-D season I bought an Elite 21 inch DAS.The only reason is that I want to get real serious this year at 3-D.I felt that the extra length of a 64 inch bow and the extra performance of Winex limbs might give me a point or two in a match.

Your draw length would have a lot to do with how each length riser feels and performs.

You'll be fine with the 17" and have less weight to carry around when hunting Steve.

For serious hunting and casual 3-D I agree with Vermonster you should go with a 17 inch. With a 28 inch draw the shorter riser will give you an option of a 58 or 60 inch bow if you should ever need it in a tighter hunting situation.

And long limbs are just so smooth when you make a 62" bow.
