I have always hand straitened arrow but have read about using a hook or screw eye. How do you do it? Pros and cons?
Thanks
Mitch

I just use a cup hook screwed into the end of a piece of ~5/8 wooden dowel.

I haven't tried a hook, but after seeing the roller (compression type) straighteners, I took a scrap piece of hickory, turned a small hollow in the center, and just roll that over the bends and it works pretty well. If I'm home, however, I just bend the arrows over the round tubing that holds the rip fence on my table saw. I just slide the arrow over the tube, bending to straighten the arrow. Seems to work better than anything else I've tried.

A smooth screwdriver or nutdriver shank works just as well.
