Big Day
« on: February 02, 2007, 10:45:00 PM »
Tomarrow (Sat) is the big day.  My son who recently passed hunters safty and I are going on his first hunting trip.  He been before with me but never as the one trying to make the kill.

We will be going after bunnies.  He will not even consider using a gun but rather is opting for his recurve.  He and mommy are laying out camo as I type.

I will try to get some pictures to post.

He will never forget this day. I still remember going with my dad the first time i was able to hunt. I was 14 then I'm 47 no but i still remember and still have the foot off the rabbit i shot. We brought it home and ate it together seems like yesterday.
Proverbs 12:27
The lazy do not roast any game,
but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

We are back!

I will try to post some pictures later.  We found 7 bunnies but all were moving way too fast for him.  Shot all kinds of sage brush and dirt piles.  Only lost 1 arrow.

When we stopped by to get his permit the place had just opened and they made a big deal about it.  A guy there who is into traditional archery came up to watch him sign.  That was pretty cool.  He was welled up with pride.

When we got to the area we were going to hunt and turned off on a dirt road a jack rabbit busted across the road.  I though he was going to come unglued!

This next picture really shows off my photo skills.  The subject is Skyler (the little green dot)  What you really get a good view of is the end of my arrow shaft as I attempt to hold the camera and my bow.

Way to go, Dad!  You can't buy memories like that at Wal Mart.  The picture of that young man is hope for the future.
