Has anyone built their own belt grinder?

Just curious if it's worth the time. I found plans on that online auction site for plans and didn't know if it was worth the time. I'm thinking of buying a 1x30 sander to start then if I continue on then maybe build a 2x72"
Is a 2x27" from grizzly even worth looking at?

I am seriously considering it. Problem is NOT the frame but the wheels. Trying to figure what to make them with, needs ball bearings and be a little bigger than 2" wide.
any ideas, I have thought of maybe caster wheels?

I have a friend with a lathe and was hoping he could help me make some. In the auction it says the total cost is $60 to $70 to build I highly doubt that. I've seen the wheels alone go for over $300.

Hey Jesse. Did you consider skateboard wheels? I had my grandmother who garage sale shops every week (calls it her therapy) pick me up skateboards to build a heavy duty drawer in the back of my truck. I think that they might work well with the platten. As for the ten inch wheel... I'll get back to you on that.
