Osidian w/ Yew & Cherry handle
« on: May 28, 2008, 04:19:00 AM »
I made this up a few months ago and never got around to posting some pics. It is from a Obsidian blade I got from a guy on the other site awhile back.  The Yew is from some I got in Idaho about 5 years ago on a bear hunt. I secured the blade to the handle with some epoxy then wrapped it with rawhide & hide glue.  On the butt end is a piece of Brazillian cherry with a slice of maple.  I shaped it to look like an arrowhead.

This may sound like a dumb question.
Do you make these for show, collect, put on the wall....
Or are these used in the field for what ever like a steel blade?????
The workmanship is outstanding and I like the way you got the arrowhead in the handle.
 Very nice....

Nosight - I made this for more of a display knife, but the blade is knapped razor sharp so it could be used in the field.  Still toying with taking it along to use this fall.

Thanks agian for the nice comments.  Brock
