KNIVES...gotta love em
« on: July 08, 2008, 10:01:00 AM »
I need another knife like I need another big toe...but I got a new one anyway.

This one is a plain no nonsense blade that a man can carry and use every day for any job imaginable.

It was made by Matt Lesniewski, ML Knives in Hagaman NY. It has a 5 3/8" blade, 1/4" spine. Hand forged from 1095 high carbon steel it takes and holds a great edge. The scales are Elk horn buffed and aged.

This is a heavy knife that feels like you could pry open the gates of Hell with it. A very heavy duty leather sheath compliments the knife.

He calls this model the Camp/Hunter. He has many other styles on his web site.

1/4 inch spine?  STOUT!!!  Looks good and I haven't heard anything bad about ML knives or Matt!  I am hoping to someday get either his bushcraft (spearpoint) or his drop point hunter...

BEAUTIFUL Ron!!!!!

Matt is truely a "master craftsman"!!!!! I have one of his knives that was given to me by my Brother, "adkmountainken" who is a very close friend of Matt. It is a beautiful "French style" knife with moose antler scales and a heavy leather "mountain man" style sheath.

I'll carry it to my grave.

That's a tough looking knife. 1095 is good steel too. Nice.

Matt is a great guy who feeds his family with the knives he sales. works out of his garage and is just a great person. i have many and have gave away many of his knives as gifts.
 Ron,
he has a sweeeeeet Hudson Bay style knife that i have tried to talk him in to selling, ya got to see it! its the only one he has ever kept for himself. Matt is the guy who made the big bowie i carry everywhere.

I ordered his HB knife. He emailed me last night about another early style big knife that he has already forged. I'm sending him some moose antler that he can use for handle material. I'm looking forward to that one.

At the NY Bowhunters Banquet I bought one of Matts knives at the auction.

It is a Stag-Hunt and Field knife. He builds great fuctional knives. Adkmountainken told me about his knives at the JLMBH this year.
