Neck Knife Envy -- with pic.

You guys are great.  Excellent craftsmen and when you post those beautiful neck knives on here, I'm drooling on my keyboard!

I've been watching and learning and over the last week or so, I've put together a neck knife for myself.

I've asked questions on here, and watched the posts to learn, but there is no way I can forge my own blade, so I went to Jantz supply and ordered a small blade to make myself a small neck knife.

Here is what I came up with.

I like the shape of this one and the small size -- only 4.5 inches OAL, but it's solid.  High Lighter included for size reference.  The camera doesn't do justice to the bone.

Scales are cattle bone that I picked up under my deer stand last year.  Don't know how long they have been there, bit they've got that good "antiqued" look to them as you can see.

Shaped the scales on my cheap little Craftsman belt/disc sander and used finishing nails for the pins.  Stabilized the bone with CYA and then added a couple of coats of Spar Urethane to seal it up good.

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, but now I need a sheath.

Next project -- Damascus drop point skinner with an antler handle and brass guard.

I'm pretty impressed with this little knife.  Feels really solid in my hand, to be as small as it is.

I hope to get some work done ove the next week on a sheath for it.

Thanks for the offer Glen.  I'm going to try to make one on my own.  Probably won't be as nice as yours, but I like doing my own stuff when I can.
