Big Clip point Bowie (my style!)
« on: August 01, 2008, 06:02:00 AM »
Fancied making something BIG again!  :D

4mm 01 blade with a convex sabre grind, unsharpened top swedge. Polished to 600grit
Blade length 9-1/2" OAL is 14-5/8"

Handle material is African Blackwood with 12 (yes, 12!) 4mm brass pins & an 5/16" lanyard tube.

The knife feels really nice in the hand & is quicker to maneuver than I imagined it would be. I reckon it may make a half-decent comp cutter or even an 'Extreme Utility' type thing  ;)  (We're not allowed to say 'Fighter' in England!)

It was fun to build & I'm looking forward to trying it out on some milk bottles & hemp rope!

Once again, the leather work is to follow shortly. I think this one may end up with a snakeskin inlay again. We'll see.

That is BEAUTIFUL, Friend!
Maybe I'll get to see that next year!
When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Very nice. Excellent blade design. Needs a scabbard.
