Osage and Purpleheart knife scales
« on: August 14, 2008, 10:13:00 AM »
Hope this is ok on here.... Mods let me know if not.

I'm not much of a knife crafter, but do appreciate what you guys do here and love drooling over pics of what you all make.  I get pieces of osage a purpleheart from time to time that I don't have much use for but know it would make knife scales.  So instead of chucking them in the old fireplace heap, I have some sets right now that I would like to send to a couple of guys who are interested in them.  They run from 3/8 to 1/2 thick about an inch wide and 4 to 8 inches long.  Don't want anything for the wood, just cover what ever the shipping is.  PM me if intereted. dino

Who's kissing up now Frank?!  I'm hoping I can start getting some shop time in so I can start making more knives again... 'course I also need to finish the shop!

I have a mess o' osage firewood (traded someone awhile back for staves he rejected after cutting and splitting) and more than enough purpleheart for the time being, but that's a very nice offer dino!  :)

Chris,
I have one piece that you might be able to get a couple scales out of that has some figure, but has a crack and a knot in it too, wouldn't classify it as "wild lookin".  Depending on the size you might be able to avoid the crack and knot stuff.
