After my last attempt with Ironwood & Damascus, which didn't turn out 100% I thought I ought to try again.
Toby Crocker (His Tobyness, hobby bladesmith & farrier extrordinaire
) supplied me with some stunning ladder damscus & another slab of Ironwood, he had kicking around. After a few PM'd conversations we figured out what had gone wrong with my last etch attempt & Toby gave me instructions for his mix (15N20 & 20C)
I received the billet yesterday morning & had it to this stage by last night....
This morning I set to with cutting & filing the guard, spacers and handle & tonight, I'm pleased to say, I finished off with the sheath! See, sometimes being impatient pays off! :D
Finished specs are:-
OAL is 9-1/4"
Blade (tip to guard) 4-1/8" Flat ground with vine(ish) filework. 58RWC
Guard material is HT'd 01
Spacer is Cowhorn & black fibre
Pin is aluminium.
Here's the pics....
Once again, a huge, huge thank you goes to Toby for the materials & help along the way. I think I
may have finally figured this 'mascus lark out! :D
