Build Competition Bowie
« on: January 20, 2009, 09:10:00 AM »
Here is a knife I made for a build competition. It started as a large camp knife from Ragnar. I re profiled the top of the blade and did a little bevel work(first time!). Handle is dyed elk antler with a skull relief in the butt and blue dyed maple burl with a red spacer. It has a couple of different mosaic pins and a cast brass guard. There were a couple of pits in the guard that I couldn't sand away. Sheath is 9-10oz Leather handmade and tooled. Blade length is 9" and OAL is apprx 15-1/2". It has been a blast!

THAT! is a beautiful package!
Nice job on the handle combo.
That attention to detail and fit-and-finish just doesn't come easy.
Sweet.

When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Wow!

That has got to blow away just about anything I have ever seen you do. If you ever get the itch to part with it and move on to something different, give me a ring. I can hold on to it for you for a while....

Skull, that is a great knife, I love the sheath too!  I'm working on a similar design.  That knife is inspiring! I can only hope my project comes remotely close!
