Stag Hunter
« on: February 05, 2009, 02:38:00 PM »
Have you seen Stag like this in a while? Popcorn on about 50% of the handle.
I had a fellow in my shop last year who spotted this piece in my handle drawer and "claimed" it! Can you blame him?
As well, he saw a knife I had there with a recurved blade and an oval guard.
That's what he wanted - so that's what he gets!
Of course it's a full take-down.
Selectively hardened 5160 blade and stainless hardware.
5 7/8" blade, 10 3/4 inches overall.
For a friend here on the forum.

When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Sorry missed this one till now. Fantastic looking knife Karl, I'm looking real forward to hanging that one on my belt and putting it to good use in Texas next week and week after. When Karl showed me that piece of stag last year, he said he had been saving it for something special. So I said, go ahead make me something special! This is going to be my regular go to knife from now on. See ya soon bud!

David, I know FOR A FACT! that there are guys who would take this knife and put it in a safe! Not because it's all that beautiful, but because it's highly unlikely that I will EVER be able to replace that piece of Stag.
It gives me pause to consider that thing covered in blood and hanging from someone's belt out in the bush.
But, then again, we only get to live THIS life one time.
Had just as well do it with some class!
When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.
