My favorite is a 32 oz ball pein with a wooden handle. I have some nice and expensive hammers, but the ball pein is one that I use on every blade. Lin

I've got a 24 oz. ball pein and a 2 lb. cross pein that I use the most.  I don't have but one expensive hammer, a 4.4 lb Peddinghaus cross pein that I rarely use.  I rarely use the pein on any of my hammers, instead I use a spring fuller for shapping tangs and stretching steel out.
