Saw blade anyone?

A little over 1/4" thick. Weighs about 60-70lbs. and, from a spark test, I do believe it is high carbon. The first 2 inches around the edge is all carbide.

This should be perfect for large knives, and some one piece hawks! I'm a happy camper!

You'll get a bunch of good blades out of that one!

You should cut a piece out of the arbor area and send that off to be analyzed.
That's what I'd do.
You cold have a lot of fun with some nice steel there.
Reason I suggest testing is that if the entire body of the blade was hardenable, there would probably have been no need for the carbide portion.
That center section may be simply unhardenable.
Check your possibilities.

Mr. Karl,

 I SAY it is carbide, hah, doesnt make me right. It wont spark at all, but the body of the blade sparks similar to Nicholson file steel.

I was told it was a steel cutting blade, and the body being high carbon makes sense, to me atleast.

I will be doing a quench test soon, and may send a piece off to be analyzed, as you suggested.
