5" Hunter for a retirement gift
« on: August 04, 2009, 12:01:00 AM »
A good friend of mine is retiring this week.  When I stated working with him 16 years ago, he took me under his wing and really helped me out.  We have also hunted and fished together for these last 16 years.  Here is his gift from me, which I hope he takes on his elk hunt this year.

Hidden tang contruction
5" Hunter blade, flat ground and hand finished to 2000 grit
Brass guard is made from brass parts removed from a machine he designed and has been working with for 30 years.
Stablized Maple burl
1/8 Brass pins
Also my new makers mark
Sheath by me, is 9-10 Oz hand tooled leather

Thanks for looking,

James

Sweet! I would dare to say it will mean a lot to him. Very nice gift. Now he gets to hunt/fish as much as he likes. I'm hoping to get there one day myself.
