Or how ever its spelled.. I am a 6th generation pack rat on the same place. I have looked in every creek bed and junk pile and for some reason I can not lay my hands on this magic metal. I found some very old I think its tempered rebar its twisted I forge it down etched it nothing. What am I looking for what is made of wrought Iron? If it was on old farm equipment or something like that I would have enough for everyone but where can I find it. .I know there has to be some lying around here... PLease help. Thanks guys

I've found old wagon wheel tires in the woods and around old farms that etch up really nice.  The wheels and spokes were wood and the tire was wrought iron.  Usually all that's left is the metal hoop of the tire.  I have found pieces that had been cut and straightened out but you can tell because it has a "D" shaped cross section with a flat side and a rounded side.

A quick way to tell if it's wrought is to cut it 3/4 way through and then break it.  It should look fibrous almost like straw where it breaks.

Okey dokey That should get me in right direction.
Have you ever seen (I think it's a rebar because there was some old concrete buried with it) 1" square with a long twist in it?  had a hard time pulling it out of the ground with a tractor. it would SPRING back to its shape after pulling it out. ??????????????

Last week I was driving down in the pasture and I found two of them hung up>. I was lucky enough to get a shot off and got both of them in one shot. I am having them mounted just like they were. LOL
