Texas Ebony anyone???
« on: August 25, 2009, 08:12:00 AM »
I'm finally about to have some time in the shop again!!!

I need a few pieces of dry Texas Ebony to use in the handles of the knives I put up in the St. Jude auction this year.  I'm still a few weeks off from needing it, but I've been unable to find anything that isn't soaking wet.

Anyone have a few peices in the shop?  I don't need much.

Dana,
The wax on the outside is to keep it from drying out too fast.  Usually a real heavy coating to keep it wet for wood turning.  That's all I can find and it would take a long time to dry (or check badly).

I might be able to get some for you.  My buddy should have some left over from a couple of bows he built for me.
