What's Karl thinkin'??
« on: October 10, 2009, 05:47:00 PM »
Just having some fun and tryin' new stuff.
I have always had an interest in being able to create as many varied types of knives and styles as I can.
This has yet to get the marine epoxy finish, but the day is almost done and I had some time.
The blade was forged down from 1" thick  5160 stock, done in the "Brut de Forge" method and cord wrapped over Western Diamondback Rattlesnake.
Will get a cross draw sheath with a groovy little concho.
It'll be on my table at the Ohio Classic in 2 weeks.
Now, don't make fun of me.

When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Nice Karl, is that flat or hollow ground? Hard to tell on my computer.

It's about 90% flat grind, and then I finish it off with a convex configuration.

hi Karl,  cute little knife indeed!  there are quicker, easier and in my view better ways to lock/seal that handle in than epoxy ;-)

Cool Karl.  But I thought the paracord should be left dry, so you can change it when it gets nasty, or if you want a different color?

Dan, I guess there are no set rules here.
One might also leave it un-treated so as to be able to have about 8 feet or para-cord for an emergency.
In this case, I DID want to protect the snake skin, so I soaked the entire thing.
I've got a buddy who seals his cord warp as well, and when it gets dirty he sprays it off with WD-40!
Who knows.
