No. Just use the real thing.
When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

It's not expensive and you can buy it by the foot.
I built my largest forge over a year ago and it looks like the day I made it, even with flux damage from making Damascus.
I probably don't have $16.00 worth of Inswool in it.

I just googled "ceramic suppliers in canada" check out greenbarn.com and here's a link to a Pdf pg. 26 for   Fiberfax Durablanket  rated to 2400 F.

ALso, right where I get mine here in Chicago, Harbison Walker, has a distribution center in Edmonton.
Go here:  http://www.hwr.com/
click on "locations" and then "distribution centers".
Scroll down and you'll find a map and a Harison Walker in Edmonton.
Maybe they can tell you where to buy small amounts.
Another point to consider, when buying materials for making knives, buy them with the forethought that you WILL NEED MORE IN THE FUTURE!
When I bought mine, I bought a full box of 25 feet. I'll have it when I need it.

More help here from some good people on a knife making forum:

"Have him call either Windsor Factory @ 313-965-7740 or Lunar Industrial 313-965-7477. The numbers are MI. phone #'s but they will get the call in Canada".
