Forged 1095 Bowie, 11" blade, 16-1/8" overall, Ceylon Ebony handle. Differentially heat treated using clay, etched/polished to show hamon. I do a fairly light polish after etch, makes for a blade that dont scuff real easy when cutting.

thanks all, I really enjoy making the Bowies. Now if I could only finish and keep one for myself I would be a bit happier.

I know just what you mean. I am working on a Camp Knife for me, but I figure it will end up in someone elses hands. Let's say I will thoroughly test it before I let it go.

The good thing about it is you can touch it up and it's as good as new. Lin

trying to figure out what handle material im going to use, either Black Walnut or Curly Maple.

... ha! every Bowie I have made for myself has been sold... the longest one lasted about a month.

How do you find the Ebony holds up? I've had some folks say it splits after time, but if I season mine for about a year or so, I've never had any complaints.

Steve, your correct, picked out a nice piece this afternoon. Hope to get it handled next week.

Karl, The Ceylon is the best ive used so far. I swore never to use Ebony after I had some split years ago. This stuff is a cut above, still need to use sharp tools when cutting etc... but better than any of the other Ebony ive used in the past.

So, with that said, the Ceylon holds up well, some of the stuff I used in the past didnt.
