My First
« on: January 18, 2010, 11:13:00 PM »
01 Carbon tool steel blade "Bushcraft type",with a scandi grind, Pacific Yew scales with brass pins and lanyard tube. CA Glue finish.
I thought I'd start with a blade already done, and add the rest.

Many lessons learned, like:
-Always wear a respirator and goggles when cutting and sanding wood and glue.
-Never touch a finished blades edge to a moving sanding belt.
-Don't leave your finger in 1 place for more than 3 seconds with CA glue on it(you'll have to sand your skin off of the handle)LOL

Thanks to all of you guys who have been teaching ME without knowing it!

Thanks guys, I've been reading past threads trying learn all I can.

Dana, You're right, I can't stop. I have a Craig Barr blank on the way, and I'm already shopping around for a spindle sander!

Steve, Yew is my personal favorite!
(I was thinking about using some cocobolo also, that came from the Bruin recurve in the pic, but right after I sliced into it, I had a wicked asthma attack and will wait to use the coco in spring....outside!)
PS I wasn't using my respirator at first because I was so excited to get started!!!
IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN!! NEVER
