Anybody for a fancy camp cutter...
« on: April 10, 2010, 12:52:00 AM »
Getting an occasional "order" knife tween test knives, here's one with an interesting story. We/Brokaw's have a friend from Chicago who owns a place down toward Big Timber. He likes his fun time and spends a lot of it in the Bahamas fishing. Over the years he got to know a Swiss chef name of Roger, (pronounced Rojay) at one of the fish camps on Andros Island. Guess it gets pretty hot and miserable down there in the summer so one year Roger was complaining so he invited Roger to come to MT and spend the summer cooking for him and his family. Roger took him up on it, since he came to MT we've all gotten to know and like Roger. Occasionally Meredith B. will hire him to come up and do a dinner party to give Karen and I a break. Anyway last summer when he was here one evening he was looking at my knives and was fascinated. He ended up ordering this one, I'd call it more of a fancy camp knife but he plans to use it as a kitchen/chef knife. I was amused when he insisted on Oosik for the handle, I think he's planning to have some fun with it messing with some city folk...

Anyway it turned out nice, 6 5/8" of Damascus, 416/brass, and Oosik.

Thanks for looking.

You did that walrus proud, Doug.
I hope he has a LOT of fun with that!

When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

No joke, Lin!

Doug, all kidding aside, that's as nice a kitchen knife as I can recall ever seeing.

Very sweet.
