I know Hershal House pretty well and he boils his knives in Clorox.The cold blue and clorox will be almost as aggresive without the fumes of the boiled clorox.The problem with both of these methods are they can be spotted a mile away by those that know them.
To my eye what Tippet is doing gives the most pleaseing and authentic final appearance.
