3D Target Realism
« on: January 27, 2008, 01:20:00 PM »
I have been hunting at least 15 times lately without seeing a deer. I looked out the window this morning and saw seven in my back yard, four button heads and three does. The button heads were feeling their oats, fighting and chasing the does. This one took a real interest in one of my 3D targets.

I can't bring myself to hunt in my back yard even though I have 4 acres of woods and frequently see deer. I know all these deer personally and prefer to hunt anonymous deer.

Stange thing about the two does I saw, I have been seeing the same ones for several years and they always have two buck fawns, never a doe.

Eric, those are nice photo's, I like to watch deer also and the ones right by my house I leave alone. Here is a picture of my backyard buddy, this buck has lost his antlers, and I believe that I have one of them. I caught him during the daylight the other day and snapped this pic while he fed in the bird feeder.

Erik, I feel the same way about the rabbits in my back yard. Just can't get my head around it.

My son got a new McKenzie buck for Christmas. Since I don't have much of a back yard, it's at my parents' house. My mom told me there were 5 bucks and a couple of does around it this morning. Too bad she didn't get any pics!

A couple of years ago I had my 3D target setup a few yards away from the house and I came home one night and found it knocked over. I laughed thinking that a buck had fought with it but to my surprise there were other shenanigans going on. The whole back end (rump) of the target was covered with blood!     All around the target were blood drops. Ouch! It was a rough season for that guy.
