first knife in the works

posted a question about pins in the handle of my first knife, and got great responses so i figure id post some pics of the knife in question. its cut from a 10" circular saw blade, antler handle from the first deer i ever got. bolster is hammered copper, although im having a hard time rounding it over the face of the antler as id like it to be.not a very good pic, shows the marks i have yet to finish off in the blade.   heres another showing the bolster. i still have to finish the bolster, blade, and then get my pin indexed/drilled and everything put together and epoxied up. im really happy with it so far.

Looks pretty good to me. You should be real happy with your first knife looking that good. Great job. Lin

thanks. i am pretty happy with it, mostly because it all fits tight in the antler, i expected more slop for my first attempt. i did run into some trouble getting the bolster to fit perfectly with the blade though, mostly i think because the antler face isnt as square as it should be and that is compounding everything else. i plan on making another one to complete a set with this one, probably something a little bigger, and am going to use everything i learned making this one to improve upon it.

thanks for the encouragement. ive been working on this for about 4 months now little by little, doing research on the processes and building tools and fixtures to fit my needs as i go in between building bows. i just got done drilling for my pin, now im working on the butt cap and handle finishing before i put it all together since its easier than working around the blade. im going to go garage saleing this weekend hopefully to pick up some stuff i can use in my shop, like a toaster oven for tempering and maybe a vise and some hand tools to use when i make my next one. right now im pretty much working with hand tools and a few C clamps on a temporary bench until my lumber comes. definitly gives some prospective on knifemakers from the past and their processes when all they had were crude tools.
