The Hunting knives and Crafters forum on this site has a wealth of info on it djanko.  We have a lot of members here who make incredible knives & you would probably be wrapped up in answers over there. You may have already looked there, but in case you hadn't... For a non custom knife, the Helle knife series offers a lot of knife for the money. Dryad bows (wingnut) sells them on their website.   :)

There are several to choose from here depending how much you want to spend.

There are a few pro's and lots of very good part time bladesmiths.

Review some of the posted knives and ask some questions!

I had a Randall in Cambodia that saved my life more than once. Left it in country with a buddie. Never heard from him again but it was a knife to  bet your life on. I can think of none better and own 4 of them and no others. Frank

I'm not meaning to put anyone's work down by any means, but check out some of Linn Rhea's work.  Just awesome.  I can't think of any better lookin', well made knives out there.  Every time he posts pics of a new knife I just sit here and drool......they are all working beauties.  I only wish I could afford one.  :notworthy:    :notworthy:

I couldn't have said it any better. At some point (after I get thru with my Blacktail buying binge...) I'm going to go on a quest to add a knife or two from the knifemakers here. I already have a few but have several more to go. There is some serious talent gracing these pages    .

Well there are some great knife Akers right here you might try contacting but another maker to check out is Bob Dozier out of Arkansas. He makes a great hunting and working knife. Definitely one of the best at what he does. Just google his name. Good luck!

Jay
