Who gave you the sickness

Thats what it is when you start making knives. I always loved knives. From the red rubber dagger when I was a kid to all the knives i have now. I got sick on here. Ferret and Dano got me started with the sickness. Mr.campbell and Loyd Lippert took it to the next level. tippit didnt help me to get over it and Highpockets & jeremy also. Knifemaker kept it going. Started with broadhead knives and then into what I called CheatR knives. And still trying to make knives today. And no sign of a cure in sight. How about you? who made  you sick?<><

One of my hunting buddies took a blacksmithing class. I blame him. He now has his back and shoulder messed up and cant hammer along.

I don't know that I have the full fledged sickness yet-only made one knife.  This forum is what made me think it might be possible to actually make one.  Ragnarok Forge (Clay) made that a reality and shoveled a bunch of stuff my way so I can make them for myself.  I do feel a bit feverish....

The voices in my head told me to do it!  

I was always interested in it since childhood and never could find a really good knife in the stores.  I decided to take some classes and make the knives I wanted the way I wanted them.

A man by the name of Ron (My surrogate Grandfather) aka "El Paso Gaso" for unknown reasons. He helped me with my first knife that I ws bet by a friend that I could not make. Thanks Ron. But as of late the "Sickness" has resurged thanks to people on this site... People like you Frank...

Doug Campbell & his little caper.  I bought one then proceeded to tell him our farrier had given me a his old horse shoeing forge & anvil.

He taught me through PM's on Trad Gang way before the knife forum ever existed.  This used to be taboo topic.  We didn't even know each other at the time...Doc

my dad was a buckskinner who made throwing knives from lawnmower blades and he was friends with a feller named 'Cricket' who gave me my first forged tomahawk... which I split my toe with.

But I got started by watching all the great makers on the ***********.... Stic in particular.  Thanks man!

I had a small fever of my own, then found this forum and the sickness really hit. I think we keep passing it back and forth here on Tradgang.

 It's my turn to catch it again, I haven't made anything in months because of work.

I've been a carrier for years, since I worked with an old gentleman (John Fields)back in the early 80's in Luisiana. He could do amazing things with steel and I used every opportunity I got to talk and listen to him. I've lost touch with him, although I think he's till living in NW Arkansas.

20 years later, I took a class in Old Washington, Arkansas at the Bill Moran School of Bladesmithing and just kept it up till now. Lin

It's in my nature. When I fly fished a bunch I made rods and tied flies. I have built my own duck calls, decoys and a boat. When I made a couple of bows from trad gang help, knives were the next step to creating tools for my outdoor pursuits. This seems to be a better fit than anything else I have crafted. Maybe this is part of getting older but I feel very focused on a life long pursuit in knife making.

I've always been knife crazy as long as I can remember,but just in the past few years when I decided to try and make my own and found this site in my quest for knife make'n knowledge my sickness seems to have become progressively worse!!! Thanks to all you fine craftsmen.
You are all top notch in my book      
Oh and my ailment of traditional archery has grown too.

I had a little bite somewhere on my person and had made a few You could call em knives .....But I believe that when when My oldest son Was in Iraq and WE both got severly bitten We had help from above!AIN'T NO BETTER BITE TO BE HAD.
ALL YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN A MAJOR HELP AT KEEPING THAT BITE FRESH.
