Turkey Tracks Youth Hunt
« on: January 12, 2011, 01:49:00 PM »
Guys and Gals
Its almost time (three and a half months) till we have our kids in camp again.  Last year I made a post about the turkey tracks organization that I work with.  I asked for the crafters of this site to pitch in and donate some knives to the cause.

Below you can find a link to last years post.
In the post you will get the description of the event and how things work.  We do an opening "ceremony" to kick start the hunt with the kids, parents, guides, families, landowners that graciously allow us to use their property, community members, etc etc.  During this ceremony we have a silent auction.  During the year we are doing all sorts of fundraising events which include a fish fry with a raffle for guns, and other hunting gear.  We do the adopt a hunter which is mentioned in the link below, and this last year we had our first golf scramble with a raffle for various things.

There were a couple of guys that helped last year and they will never see the smiling faces of the kids returning to camp with their turkeys or stories to tell, but those two knives were a huge hit and I would like to keep the ball rolling.  Already this year we have the 19 kids returning from last year plus an additional six already added 3 months in advance.  It is shaping up to be a lot of fun and your support would be greatly appreciated.

If any of you have facebook you can find us on there as well under Turkey Tracks Hunt.  Eric's mom runs that for us.

If you'll have me (that is, if my stuff is good enough for your purposes) then I'd love to make a knife for one of the kids.  What a neat cause  :)

There is no such thing as a bad knife for the kids.  Most of these kids will never use the knife rather it will sit next to their turkey mount and be a neat little relic to remember us and the hunt by.  So Yes we will have you.

I wanted to post this up for the guys that helped out last year.  This is the group of kids and guides that participated in last years hunt.  The kid in the middle holding the turkey is the one that received one of the knives from last year as he killed the first bird of the morning.  The guy between the kid with the walker and the kid with the blaze orange sweatshirt is Eric Corey.  The brains behind this organization.  He received one of the other knives for his contributions to get this thing started.

Hey everyone.  I wanted to let everyone that volunteered to donate a knife that we are only about a month away from go time.  I'd like to have the knives in with about a weeks time to allow for any snafu's in the mailing process.  I have gotten one in the mail so far and big thanks goes out to 4est Trekker for his beautiful little creation that he donated already.

If anyone else is interested PM me for a shipping address.
Thanks again
Dustin
