Knife Handle Makeover...
« on: April 11, 2011, 11:07:00 PM »
I recently recieved a Helle knife in the Nying model, and I am not a huge fan of the handle. It is not something that I purchased from a retailer. It was attained thru a trade from a fellow TG'er. My question is, can I change out the handle for something different? And if I can I am going to need  a different sheath, so where would be the best place to purchase a good leather for making a sheath? Any tips or info on how to go about this whould be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, Mike.

I believe that you can "unscrew" the tang from the handle.

The best way to find out is to contact Helle Knives, and pose the question to them..
You can get to them by this email, [email protected]

As the sheath is tailored to the dimensions of the handle, I don't think you can reuse it.

For leather you can always try the big auction site, texas knife company or Tandy Leather, whom I believe many here use!

Good Luck, and do show us how it turns out  ;)

Well guys I have an antler that I would like to make into the handle for this sweet little blade. But I do not have the know how if ya know what I mean. So with that being said, would anyone be interested in doing some horse trading for the job? I have no idea how much it would cost to have this done so shoot me some ideas and figures please. Or let me know of someone that would possibly be interested in the job and I will contact them. Thanks in advance for any and all info, Mike.
