finishing wood for handles
« on: May 08, 2011, 11:55:00 AM »
Almost finished my first knife and wondered what I should use to protect the wood on the handle? Was thinking about tru oil maybe and I also have some clear polyurethane. Thanks for the help!

I just applied a coat of Danish oil on a handle. It soaks in nicely, but we'll see how it turns out.

I like Danish oil sanded in wet with 600 grit wet dry paper. 3 coats buff between coats. Then apply hard furniture wax with a clean wheel on a buffer. Done right it looks like glass.
