Jeff, Caswell makes a stainless steel blackener. Sounds crazy, but it works pretty good.

It looks awesome.  I tried to imagine what it would look like finished when I saw it at your house. My imagination is not even close to getting things as perfect as you and Mr. Lurkin can skillfully craft. Well done, indeed.
