Sleeping Indian Designs who can tell me good or bad

I'm looking for good wool. I like the archery pull over they have to look at anyway. Can anyone say one way or Another, is it worth the money for this pull over from sleeping Indian Designe ?

SI is great stuff.  I own bibs and a ridgeline pullover as well as an archers extreme pullover.  For bowhunting on through November here in Ohio I use bibs and the ridgeline over top of Ulfrotte Merino wool undies.  Keeps me toasty.  The only time I break out the archers extreme pullover is after gun season when it really gets cold.  Pricey but well worth it.  I've had mine about 5 or 6 years now.

I had a Sleeping Indian pull over, and it was way over sized....sold it and spent the money on a custom fit Grey Wolf pull over....been using it ever since.

Do you think a pullover is better than a jacket? I don't want to hijack the thread but I'm looking to buy a grey wolf jacket.

I had Terry's experince. An XL was waaay to big. I sold it on Ebay, and the first guy I sold it to returned it because it was to huge for him to.

To be honest, I like KOM and Filson much better. I think the wool is thicker/tighter and the overall manufacturing quality is better.

Having hunted with several friends who own/owed KOM, they all commented on how much tighter and heavier the SID was compared to their own wool. Overall the several peices of SID I still own (sold some because I'm shrinking!) I really enjoy owning it for comfort, warmth and the features of the clothing.

I like the quality of my Sleeping Indian and having owned Hidden Wolf in th e past I would say they all compare pretty favorably.

At one point some time ago Hidden/Grey wolf held a significant price advantage over SID and KOM but I think overall they price competitivly now.

So you have to decide on pattern and overall features. I'm staying with SID for now, great stuff and thier customer service was superior when I needed it.

I think I may try SID again. My experience was from 7-8 years ago. Since then EVERYONE disagrees with me, and you guys all can't be wrong. I hate ordering stuff without touching it...anybody sell KOM and SID off the rack?

Roger, I saw some Sleeping Indian wool at Cabelas in East Grand Forks last year. Not sure if they  still carry it though.

Cabala's has sleeping Indian listed in there catalog and their website so i would think they would have it on the rack. I buy a lot of gear on line. But like roger i like to lay my hands on it also if it's in the store it's easy to hang it up and walk away if it doesn't feel right.

Cabelas is 20 minutes from the house. I think they have KOM also, I know they have filson. I'm going to do a little side by side comparison.

Thanks guys this is good information. I like the look but like you I don't trust buying without trying the garment on. If cabelas has SID I should be able to check the web.

I bought some SI pants and pullover shirt for a '94 caribou hunt.  So far its been to Quebec twice, Alaska once, So Dak, and lots of hunts in IL and is still my #1 hunting outfit when it's cold enuf to wear it.  I water wash it without any shrinkage or other issues.  I kinda wish washing would shrink me a bit, tho.  Great stuff IMO.

I have SI bibs and shirt, plus a KOM shirt.  I like the pockets on the KOM shirt, but in the long run I like the SI shirt.  Their both pullovers.  Yesterday I was out shooting before I watched "da girls" get the snot kicked out of them and it was cold.  THe SI shirt has a hand warmer pocket that I had forgot about when I first saw this thread.  That made all the difference in the world between shots.

I have gray wolf and day one wool. You may want to look at the day one as it is priced signifincantly better than any of the others mentioned here. I love the gray wolf stuff and the day one, but the day one is much less expensive. In regard to the question about a jacket or a pullover, I would definitely go with a jacket as I often pack my outer layer or two in and a jacket is easier to put on (especially over my safety harness) when I'm 15 feet off of the ground. I guess if I hunted from the ground, it wouldn't matter much, but I definitely prefer the jacket to the pullover if hunting from a tree.

The hand warmer pocket on the pullover is a favorite of mine for tree stand hunting, SID rocks in that department. A couple instant heaters and your set for the duration.
