Mama always said, "Making San Mai.........
« on: January 11, 2012, 01:56:00 PM »
.........is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."
Seriously, this one has some rather radical ladder effects from the drawing dies that I just wanted to show off.
This is a real good demonstration of what's happening when using drawing dies.
Now, to finish this thing out.

When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

David, that would really make an interesting combination!
That blade is 5"+ long and 1 1/4" wide at the widest.

Too cool! reminds me of shark teeth
What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.

Somebody else told me it was like the teeth on a two man cross-cut saw.

When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Stunning...I'm thinking fossilized walrus as well, or maybe mammoth.  It'll be amazing whatever the handle material.

I'll bet whoever told you it was "like a two-man crosscut saw" had a 1st birthday somewhere near mine. Chain saws sorta spelled doom for old ways   :(

Wow Karl! What a cool blade! Can't wait to see the finished knife! Now I'm going to show my ignorance but I have to ask-what is a drawing die? What does it do?  Thanks, mike

Ok... what kind of paint did you use?  Was it air-brushed?  No way that's all metal...   ;)

That thing is just beautiful, Karl.
