Slowly but surely...
« on: September 17, 2012, 10:10:00 AM »
It's taking me longer than I had hoped, thanks to the start of the school year and the associated expenses, but I'm getting there.  A while back I posted pics of the rail track anvil I'll be starting with along with a sneak peak of the forge.  Here's the forge now.  All it needs is a few bolts and the blower attachment.

I have a brick for the floor.  The coating is "bubble aluminum" which was less expensive than ITC-100 and is supposed to be as good or better.  We'll see when I fire it up.

I just need time to get the blower assembly done and attached and I'll be ready to start hitting stuff.   :D

Looks good Rusty!  I'm anxious for you to fire it up!

Did you coat the insulation with anything... I.E refractory cement?  For safty sake.

Steve - the insulation is ceramic wool that I covered with bubble aluminum.  The specs rated it up there with ITC 100 for heat rating and flux resistance but at a lower cost.  I have a hard brick for the bottom as well.

Hoping to get the blower done this weekend or next week so I should be firing it up soon.   :)
