This isnt done final.top knife..bit o polishin and wax.
But I was asked to do this for the Fresno Field Archers yearly Gene Foster Memorial shoot in Nov.. Quite a honor...
dont see this kinda Hawaiian Curly Koa very often.The wood is really 3D....put about 10 or more coats of Formebys Tung oil,probally gonna add a few more. This is kinda the real first project since the move to Texas.And I havent figured out the proper place to do photos.I really wanted this knife  for myself.
Have some Teak just about as curly gonna try.Have never seen Teak like it..Everything I do seems like? Dont know what I'm doing.
The curly claro walnut is also about as curly and fantastic.just dark and poor light configuration.. made this for good friend Mike Rash(Legends Bows) really its all his fault I show these on Trad...promised him this before my move to Texas.I know he's goin to the fresno shoot..Had NO idea East Texas rained everyday of year and humid like a sauna.
and the last pic is actually the Texas State Rock! LOL  first knife I put together....A palm tree that turned into a rock...

Very nice knives. I just love Koa, and that is a beautiful piece. Koa like that has to be about 80 years old! In other words, it takes a lifetime to grow a tree with just a few pieces of wood like that, and only if the conditions are exactly right.
