Anyone need a surface grinder?
« on: October 14, 2013, 11:31:00 AM »
Serious question.
Afriend of mine just picked one up & asked me to help him sell it.

It's a big bastard, probably weight 5000 pounds! It's single phase, 220v with a 110v magnetic table. It has a stone wheel, but could be easily adapted to use a 2x72 belt.
He'd like to get $750 out of it if possible.

Any interest, please post your email address & I'll send pictures & details.

There is no slop or play in the table or toolhead. There is a little play in the longitudinal travel screw, but it's only the screw & it doesn't affect function. As far as I can tell, this came out of the Saturn plant when it closed down here a few years ago.
It needs a good clean & de-grease, but it's a good solid machine. The table is 24x8 & the grinder head has 4" of vertical travel.

Hmmm... nice score Matt, that mag chuck alone is worth a chunk. I'd like to crash the party too, too bad it's three days away... ;(
